All the news, results and reviews about Sport at the University of Southampton from Surge, your student radio station. Bringing those interested in commentating, analysing, and sometimes simply chatting about sport to all those lovely Surge listeners.

What brings together a Mike Ashley board meeting and the Mail Online comments section?

That’s correct, it’s one of the Surge Sports Team’s weekly meetings!

Sport remains one of the key tenets of Surge Radio’s content output. With an outstanding number of ways to get involved, from the weekly sports show, to a range of podcasts, to covering big events such as Varsity and Women in Sports Week, and conducting interviews with the likes of Matt Le Tissier, the Sports Team continues to be perhaps the most exciting team to join at Surge.

Over the past year, the team has managed to cover an exceptionally wide and diverse number of sports, ranging from tennis to taekwondo, and basketball to badminton. So whatever your sport, don’t hesitate to enlist as part of the Sports Team, and become a presenter, pundit, analyst, commentator, reporter, producer, or anything else you fancy yourself as.

Sports radio is a fantastically fun aspect of media. There are few other areas as dynamic, exciting, and adrenaline-fuelling as commentating on key matches during Varsity, or interviewing sporting celebrities. Over the next year, the Sports Team will continue to grow and be at the forefront of covering university, local, national, and international sport.
